Tips & Tricks

Optimizing
your menu items

Prise de commande dans une pizzeria

A well-presented and attractive menu plays a crucial role in converting customers and boosting sales. Here are some best practices in order to showcase your menu in your UEAT online ordering platform

1. Unleash the power of labels!

Labels are a powerful tool for organizing and categorizing your products, making navigation easier for your customers and highlighting specific options.

Create labels for vegetarian, gluten-free, new items, and other relevant categories.

Add icons or descriptive text to labels for better understanding.

Ensure labels are visible and consistent with your overall branding.

Steps to add labels:

  1. Click on Menu Management
  2. Click on Labels
  3. Click on the red + to create a new label
  4. Add the label name
  5. Click on Display label on online ordering
  6. Add a photo or text you want to display
  7. Go to the different items and add your new label in the “Labels” box

2. Capture attention with
appealing photos

High-quality photos are essential to showcase your dishes and encourageentice customers to order.

Review your items to see if they have photos.

Use captivating photos that highlight the appetizing aspect of your dishes.

Follow image size, ratio, and weight guidelines for better display quality.

Steps to add photos to your items:

  1. Validate the items on your order that do not have a photo.
  2. Click on the big button in the top right corner “Online ordering”, you will quickly see which items do not have a photo.
  3. Then, click on Menu Management
  4. Click on Menus
  5. Click on the category you want to open
  6. Click on Advanced editing
  7. Add the photo in the large square on the right

Note: Here are the formats to follow for images:

Size: 1024px minimum
Ratio: Between 1:1 and 2:1

Weight: 20MB maximum
File: PNG or JPEG

3. Leverage promotional banners

Promotional banners are a great way to announce special offers, new products, or events.

Create eye-catching banners with clear and concise messaging.

Target banners to specific items, categories, or offers.

Set banners to display based on time of day, day of the week, or other criteria.

Steps to create promotional banners:

  1. Click on the Promotions tab
  2. Click on + Create a promotion
  3. Click on Display on online ordering
  4. Add promotional banners (Mobile and Desktop)

4. Choose the right menu theme
for you

UEAT offers a variety of menu themes to suit your needs and restaurant’s aesthetic.

Drawer menu with images: Perfect for restaurants that have quality photos for most of their items. We recommend having photos for at least 80% of your items.

Example: https://fromagerievictoria.com/

Subcategory menu: Offers simplified navigation and highlights visuals, ideal for mobile users.

Example: https://ashtonrestaurants.ca/

Menu without photos: Ideal for restaurants that don’t have many photos or want a minimalist design. That said, investing in your photos is worth it as they encourage purchases and make conversion easier.

  • Pros: Easy to maintain, no photos needed
  • Cons: More difficult for customers to navigate

Example: https://www.eikoai.com/collections/kimonos-1

Contact the Customer Success team to change your theme or discuss your options!

5. Incorporate gifs for visual impact

Dynamic GIFs can capture attention and highlight specific products or categories.

Use relevant and high-quality GIFs.

The steps to add GIFs are the same as for images.

By implementing these best practices, you’ll transform your online menu into a powerful marketing tool that grabs attention, stimulates appetite, and boosts sales. Remember to test different approaches and analyze results to continuously optimize your online presence.
